Things you didn’t know you needed to:
Laugh about: I have watched this video 240 times and sent it to all my friends on Instagram, some of them twice.
Rage about: If you’re going to watch one thing about Palestine this week, please make it this clip from Democracy Now. And please keep writing your reps, shouting, posting, and protesting.
Know about: It Didn’t Start with You by Mark Wolynn is one of the most life-changing “self help” books I’ve ever read, especially since it’s not about, well, self.
And… Weyward by Emilia Hart is a historical novel about 3 witches in different time periods, all connected. It’s beautifully written, hard to put down, and uplifting/escapy while still being relevant and informative.
Dance to: I’ve talked about my boyfriend Caleb Marshall and his body-positive dance workouts. This one is a) doable if you have no sense of coordination whatsoever and b) just trust me.
5. Recover with:
is a recovery-focused substack of personal essays and short shares. It’s one of the only substacks I read as soon as it arrives in my inbox. A quote a recent post, Joy is an Act of Defiance:“The biggest problem I have is believing in myself and forgiving myself for not being perfect in recovery and life. I think I’m doing great, then I think I’m nothing but a big phony who only pretends to know who they’re doing.”
Amen.
Hang out with: I teach meditation in all kinds of ways, including with Tarot. This week we talked about The Hanged One. When we find ourself in situation that seems “bad” on the outside, or you feel stuck, not in control, or powerless, this archetype encourages us to bring surrender to what’s happening right now. It reminds us that when we stop struggling and find some kindness for ourselves for where we’re at, that’s (ironically) when things shift.
Why, it’s like Tarot and 12-step all in one!
Things You Didn’t Know You Needed might become a thing around here.
If you’re into it, leave a comment or send me a message. If you have a thing that everyone needs to know about, send it over! And if you’re like, “I’ve had enough fucking listicles,” I hear you. But I promise this one is better than those ones.

I didn't realize I needed your substances until I started them!
I am also seeing parallels between 12 step recovery and other "programs", including Stoicism. Now you've got me looking at Tarot.
Work respect to trauma, I heartily recommend Gabor Maté's The Myth of Normal. A good balance between personal insight and strict clinical info.
Thank you for you.
I've needed a non-romance read, I'll be checking out Weyward.
I don't think I have any "must" although it is beginning to be Spring here and going outside to see the flowers coming again and the trees budding feels pretty good.
