Natalie, we are getting ready for our first trip to Egypt in 17 years this summer, and reading your words is making me pre-emptively nostalgic. What is that feeling, when you recognize somewhere in your bones?
So glad you are in Beirut, and you are sharing your version of it. More and more, I am drawn to words about the places of the world we only see as zones of conflict. Drawn to their beauty and their history and their culture. It's an odd and beautiful thing to discover you have culture after being told by society that your people are barbaric and backwards. I am learning to turn away from their words, and towards the truth.
I don't really believe in or want to travel anymore but I have always wanted to visit Lebanon, and every time I have plans and start bookings Israel happens. I look forward to reading your updates.

Dear Natalie,
I’m really happy to read this update. I fondly remember the project you were dreaming up ages ago. It’s your time to make it happen.
I'm excited to begin following your adventure there.
The serenity prayer fits into my days also.

Totally hear you. And thank you. 🙏
I love having a glimpse into your history with Beirut.
